Center for Student Leadership and Service

Welcome to the Center for Student Leadership and Service!  Housed in the Ohio Union and working in partnership with departments and offices across campus, the new Center for Student Leadership and Service strives to serve as a comprehensive, centralized, connection point for students, staff, and faculty to leadership and service opportunities on campus.

We work to strengthen and transform personal leadership through a broad variety of experiences and opportunities, to develop social consciousness around issues which affect us all, and to connect people and resources in an inclusive environment that fosters learning, innovation, and lifelong action.  We intentionally link leadership and service because we believe that every student has the potential and the capacity to serve through leadership in our community.  Our vision is to prepare world-class leaders for responsible citizenship.

Apply to be a Site Leader for MLK Day of Service!

“Make it a day ON. Not a day OFF"

Martin Luther King, Jr., Day of Service will take place on Monday, January 18, 2010.  Site Leader applications are now available and due by Friday, December 4 at 5pm.

Throughout his life, Dr. King sought to forge the common ground on which people from all walks of life could join together to address important community issues. Working alongside individuals of all ages, races and backgrounds, Dr. King encouraged Americans to come together to strengthen communities, alleviate poverty, and acknowledge dignity and respect for all human beings. Service, he realized, was the great equalizer.

"...He who is greatest among you shall be a servant.

That's the new definition of greatness…

Everyone can be great because everyone can serve.”

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

From the sermon, “The Drum Major’s Instinct”, delivered at Ebenezer Baptist Church February 4, 1968.

Apply today to be a part of this unique leadership opportunity by filling out the on-line Site Leader application at: http://www.ohiounion.osu.edu/activityfee/mlk_app.asp. Once chosen, Site leaders are expected to be aware of information distributed to them via email and attend one training session in early January (locations and times TBA).
